CARES Act

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides banks with additional tools to help their customers and communities, and the nation’s economy, through the crisis. It ensures that billions of dollars will be used for loans, provided by banks, and guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The Paycheck Protection Program, within this historic relief plan, established a $349 billion lending program for small businesses. The program provides small businesses with immediate, low-cost assistance for payroll and operating costs. Click here to learn more about the Paycheck Protection Program.

Among its provisions, the CARES Act also makes it easier to withdraw funds saved in certain tax-advanged retirement accounts like 401(k)s, and traditional Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs). These temporary changes eliminate tax penalties on certain early withdrawals and relax the rules on loans you can take on some types of accounts. Additionally, there is no Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the 2020 calendar year. Contact your tax advisor for more information.

Additional Assistance

The State Bank Group has a long history of partnering with and supporting the businesses and communities we serve. We remain committed to our customers in their time of need during these unprecedented times. We have temporarily implemented the below measures to alleviate some of the hardships many of our local businesses are facing.

  • .Savings account and money market limits:
    • For consumer and business customers, we have temporarily suspended any transaction limits from savings and money market accounts. Likewise, there will be no fee for exceeding the prior limit of six transactions per statement cycle. 
  • Certificate of Deposit Penalties Waived:
    • For consumer customers, we will waive penalties for certificate of deposit withdrawals in the amount of $10,000 or less.
    • For business customers, we will waive penalties for certificates of deposit withdrawals in the amount of $20,000 or less. 
  • Increased mobile deposit limits: 
    • Personal mobile deposit limits are now $5,000 per day, and up to ten checks may be deposited per day.
    • Business mobile deposit limits have been temporarily increased to $20,000 per check, $30,000 per user, and $50,000 per company per day.

For the safety and well-being of customers and associates and to help with local health management efforts, we have temporarily suspended both drive-thru and lobby operations at the following locations: Hebron, Wonder Lake West, and Lakemoor. These closures will remain in effect until further notice. The following locations are offering drive-thru and walk-up services during regular business hours: Wonder Lake East, Johnsburg, Spring Grove, Harvard Ayer, and Harvard Division. ATMs
